“Whydon’tweshieldthem?”Paulasked.
“AccordingtoIdaho’sreport,”Hawatsaid,“shieldsaredangerousinthedesert.Abody-sizeshieldwillcalleverywormforhundredsofmetersaround.Itappearstodrivethemintoakillingfrenzy.We’vetheFremenwordonthisandnoreasontodoubtit.Idahosawnoevidenceofshieldequipmentatthesietch.”

“It’sapuzzle,”theDukesaid.
“TheHarkonnenscertainlyusedplentyofshieldshere,”Hawatsaid.“Theyhadrepairdepotsineverygarrisonvillage,andtheiraccountsshowaheavyexpenditureforshieldreplacementsandparts.”
“CouldtheFremenhaveawayofnullifyingshields?”Paulasked.
