Hestoppedshortinadeepembarrassment.Hehadbeenpursuingafairy,andhadfoundamortal--amortalwholookeddownonhimwithaflushedfaceandangryeyes.Hewasfuriouslyhot,andthepaceandhisamazementberefthimofspeech.Itwasshewhospokefirst.
