Butwhenheheardhimselfsaythis,heflinchedandbegantocry"Oh,myGod!"againinhisgroaningvoice.Michaelismadeaclumsyattempttodistracthim.
"Howlonghaveyoubeenmarried,George?Comeonthere,tryandsitstillaminuteandanswermyquestion.Howlonghaveyoubeenmarried?"
"Twelveyears."
"Everhadanychildren?Comeon,George,sitstill—Iaskedyouaquestion.Didyoueverhaveanychildren?"
