           Hewentonasquietlyasifhehadnotevenpaused:

           “Howdidyouknow?”Mrs.MacNairn’svoicewasalmostawhisper.

           “Abeautifulyoungstranger,withsoft,darkeyes,appearedoncenotfarfromMuircarrie,andhemarriedaboatman’sdaughter.Hewasveryrestlessonenight,andgotupandlefther,andsheneversawhimagain;butafewdayslaterasplendiddeadsealcoveredwithwoundswaswashedupnearhiscottage.
