           WhentheWizardawokethesixcoloredsunswereshiningdownupontheLandoftheMangaboosjustastheyhaddoneeversincehisarrival.Thelittleman,havinghadagoodsleep,feltrestedandrefreshed,andlookingthroughtheglasspartitionoftheroomhesawZebsittinguponhisbenchandyawning.SotheWizardwentintohim.

           "Zeb,"saidhe,"myballoonisofnofurtheruseinthisstrangecountry,soImayaswellleaveitonthesquarewhereitfell.Butinthebasket-cararesomethingsIwouldliketokeepwithme.Iwishyouwouldgoandfetchmysatchel,twolanterns,andacanofkeroseneoilthatisundertheseat.ThereisnothingelsethatIcareabout."

           Sotheboywentwillinglyupontheerrand,andbythetimehehadreturnedDorothywasawake.Thenthethreeheldacounseltodecidewhattheyshoulddonext,butcouldthinkofnowaytobettertheircondition.
