Itwasnotverylongafterhehadsaidthisthathelaiddownhistrowelandstooduponhisfeet.Hehadbeensilentforseveralminutesandtheyhadseenthathewasthinkingoutlectures,asheoftendid.WhenhedroppedhistrowelandstooduprightitseemedtoMaryandDickonasifasuddenstrongthoughthadmadehimdoit.Hestretchedhimselfouttohistallestheightandhethrewouthisarmsexultantly.Colorglowedinhisfaceandhisstrangeeyeswidenedwithjoyfulness.Allatoncehehadrealizedsomethingtothefull.
“Mary!Dickon!”hecried.“Justlookatme!”
Theystoppedtheirweedingandlookedathim.
“Doyourememberthatfirstmorningyoubroughtmeinhere?”hedemanded.
Dickonwaslookingathimveryhard.
