           Wemetnextdayashehadarranged,andinspectedtheroomsatNo.221B,5BakerStreet,ofwhichhehadspokenatourmeeting.Theyconsistedofacoupleofcomfortablebed-roomsandasinglelargeairysitting-room,cheerfullyfurnished,andilluminatedbytwobroadwindows.Sodesirableineverywayweretheapartments,andsomoderatedidthetermsseemwhendividedbetweenus,thatthebargainwasconcludeduponthespot,andweatonceenteredintopossession.ThatveryeveningImovedmythingsroundfromthehotel,andonthefollowingmorningSherlockHolmesfollowedmewithseveralboxesandportmanteaus.Foradayortwowewerebusilyemployedinunpackingandlayingoutourpropertytothebestadvantage.Thatdone,wegraduallybegantosettledownandtoaccommodateourselvestoournewsurroundings. 

           Holmeswascertainlynotadifficultmantolivewith.Hewasquietinhisways,andhishabitswereregular.Itwasrareforhimtobeupaftertenatnight,andhehadinvariablybreakfastedandgoneoutbeforeIroseinthemorning.Sometimeshespenthisdayatthechemicallaboratory,sometimesinthedissecting-rooms,andoccasionallyinlongwalks,whichappearedtotakehimintothelowestportionsoftheCity.Nothingcouldexceedhisenergywhentheworkingfitwasuponhim;butnowandagainareactionwouldseizehim,andfordaysonendhewouldlieuponthesofainthesitting-room,hardlyutteringawordormovingamusclefrommorningtonight.
