           HissisterLucillawassittingnexttohim.Anotherfiftyguardsmarchedbehindthem.Closetotheroyalcarriage,onabeautifulblackhorse,rodeQuintus,thenewCommanderoftheRoyalGuards.

           CommodushadtoldtheSenatethathewasnowtheCommanderoftheRomanArmy,andthatthearmywasloyaltohim.Manysenatorsdoubtedit,buttherewasnooneinRomewithenoughpowertotakecontrol.AndsonothingcouldstopCommodus.

           ThepeoplehadbeentoldthattheirnewEmperorwouldarriveinRomeonthisdate,atthistime.Thecitywascleanedupandpurpleflagswerehungoutsidethemostimportantbuildings.ThecitizensofRomelinedthestreetsatthetimehewasexpected.
