ThenFrodokissedMerryandPippin,andlastofallSam,andwentaboard;andthesailsweredrawnup,andthewindblew,andslowlytheshipslippedawaydownthelonggreyfirth;andthelightoftheglassofGaladrielthatFrodoboreglimmeredandwaslost.AndtheshipwentoutintotheHighSeaandpassedonintotheWest,untilatlastonanightofrainFrodosmelledasweetfragranceontheairandheardthesoundofsingingthatcameoverthewater.AndthenitseemedtohimthatasinhisdreaminthehouseofBombadil,thegreyrain-curtainturnedalltosilverglassandwasrolledback,andhebeheldwhiteshoresandbeyondthemafargreencountryunderaswiftsunrise.
