           "Ihopeyoudon’thaveanythingagainstmytakingitback,littlefriend,"saidPippi, gettingoutofbedandsteppingovertoBloom.

           "Comeonnow,bothtogether,"yelledThunder-Karlsson,andtheyjumpeddownfromthewardrobe andthrewthemselvesonPippi,whohadthesuitcaseinherhand. Pippigaveeachonealittlepokewithherfinger,andtheyshrankawayintoacorner. Beforetheyhadachancetogetupagain,Pippihadfetchedaropeandquickasaflashhadboundthearmsandlegsofbothburglars. Nowtheysangadifferenttune. 

           "Please,please,miss,"beggedThunder-Karlsson,"forgiveus.Wewereonlyjoking. Don’thurtus.Wearejusttwotrampswhocameintoaskforfood." 

           Bloomevenbegantocryabit. 

           Pippiputthesuitcaseneatlybackonthewardrobe. Thensheturnedtoherprisoners. "Caneitherofyoudancetheschottischel?"
