Ashespokehefearlesslypattedtheheadhehadsomercilesslypounded,andthoughBuck’shairinvoluntarilybristledattouchofthehand,heendureditwithoutprotest. Whenthemanbroughthimwaterhedrankeagerly,andlaterboltedagenerousmealofrawmeat,chunkbychunk,fromtheman’shand.
