Andtwodayslater,whenhereturnedtohiskillandfoundadozenwolverenesquarrellingoverthespoil,hescatteredthemlikechaff; andthosethatfledlefttwobehindwhowouldquarrelnomore.
Theblood-longingbecamestrongerthaneverbefore. Hewasakiller,athingthatpreyed,livingonthethingsthatlived,unaided,alone,byvirtueofhisownstrengthandprowess,survivingtriumphantlyinahostileenvironmentwhereonlythestrongsurvived. Becauseofallthishebecamepossessedofagreatprideinhimself,whichcommunicateditselflikeacontagiontohisphysicalbeing. Itadvertiseditselfinallhismovements,wasapparentintheplayofeverymuscle,spokeplainlyasspeechinthewayhecarriedhimself,andmadehisgloriousfurrycoatifanythingmoreglorious.
