           "HowcanIwadethroughthatandtalkwithyou? Yougoandfixupthatlaundry,andthenwe’llgettogether." 

           "Allright,"Joeadmittedreluctantly. "Ithoughtyouwasturnin’medown,butIguessIwasmistaken. Butyoucan’tlickme,Mart,inastand-upfight. I’vegotthereachonyou." 

           "We’llputontheglovessometimeandsee,"Martinsaidwithasmile. 

           "Sure; assoonasIgetthatlaundrygoing." Joeextendedhisarm. "Youseethatreach? It’llmakeyougoafew." 

           Martinheavedasighofreliefwhenthedoorclosedbehindthelaundryman. Hewasbecominganti-social. Dailyhefounditasevererstraintobedecentwithpeople. Theirpresenceperturbedhim,andtheeffortofconversationirritatedhim. Theymadehimrestless,andnosoonerwasheincontactwiththemthanhewascastingaboutforexcusestogetridofthem.
