           "Alikelystoryindeed! "saidthePigeon,inatoneofthedeepestcontempt. "I’veseenagoodmanylittlegirlsinmytime,butneveronewithsuchaneckasthat! No,no! You’reaserpent; andthere’snousedenyingit. Isupposeyou’llbetellingmenextthatyounevertastedanegg!" 

           "Ihavetastedeggs,certainly,"saidAlice,whowasaverytruthfulchild; "butlittlegirlseateggsquiteasmuchasserpentsdo,youknow." 

           "Idon’tbelieveit,"saidthePigeon; "butiftheydo,whythenthey’reakindofserpent: that’sallIcansay."
