Whichbroughtthembackagaintothebeginningoftheconversation. AlicefeltalittleirritatedattheCaterpillar’smakingsuchveryshortremarks, andshedrewherselfupandsaid,verygravely,"Ithinkyououghttotellmewhoyouare,first."
"Why? "saidtheCaterpillar.
Herewasanotherpuzzlingquestion; and,asAlicecouldnotthinkofanygoodreason,andastheCaterpillarseemedtobeinaveryunpleasantstateofmind,sheturnedaway.
"Comeback! "theCaterpillarcalledafterher. "I’vesomethingimportanttosay!"
Thissoundedpromising,certainly.Aliceturnedandcamebackagain.
"Keepyourtemper,"saidtheCaterpillar.
"Isthatall? "saidAlice,swallowingdownherangeraswellasshecould.
"No,"saidtheCaterpillar.
Alicethoughtshemightaswellwait,asshehadnothingelsetodo,andperhapsafterallitmighttellhersomethingworthhearing. Forsomeminutesitpuffedawaywithoutspeaking,butatlastitunfoldeditsarms,tookthehookahoutofitsmouthagain,andsaid, "Soyouthinkyou’rechanged,doyou?"
