           VariousrumorswereafloattotheeffectthattheownersofthePharaonhadpromisedtoattendthenuptialfeast;butallseemedunanimousindoubtingthatanactofsuchrareandexceedingcondescensioncouldpossiblybeintended.

           Danglars,however,whonowmadehisappearance,accompaniedbyCaderousse,effectuallyconfirmedthereport,statingthathehadrecentlyconversedwithM.Morrel,whohadhimselfassuredhimofhisintentiontodineatLaReserve.
