           Thedaycameforourdeparture.TherewasnolongeranythingtodetainusonEndeavourIsland.TheGhost’sstumpymastswereinplace,hercrazysailsbent.Allmyhandiworkwasstrong,noneofitbeautiful;butIknewthatitwouldwork,andIfeltmyselfamanofpowerasIlookedatit.

           "Ididit!Ididit!WithmyownhandsIdidit!"Iwantedtocryaloud.

           ButMaudandIhadawayofvoicingeachother’sthoughts,andshesaid,aswepreparedtohoistthemainsail:
