AgreatcrowdofpeoplewerestandingallroundtheStoneTableandthoughthemoonwasshiningmanyofthemcarriedtorcheswhichburnedwithevil-lookingredflamesandblacksmoke.Butsuchpeople!Ogreswithmonstrousteeth,andwolves,andbull-headedmen;spiritsofeviltreesandpoisonousplants;andothercreatureswhomIwon’tdescribebecauseifIdidthegrownupswouldprobablynotletyoureadthisbook-CruelsandHagsandIncubuses,Wraiths,Horrors,Efreets,Sprites,Orknies,Wooses,andEttins.InfactherewereallthosewhowereontheWitch’ssideandwhomtheWolfhadsummonedathercommand.Andrightinthemiddle,standingbytheTable,wastheWitchherself.
