           Dellawriggledoffthetableandwentforhim. 

           "Jim,darling,"shecried, "don’tlookatmethatway. Ihadmyhaircutoffandsold becauseIcouldn’thavelivedthroughChristmaswithoutgivingyouapresent. It’llgrowoutagain youwon’tmind,willyou? Ijusthadtodoit. Myhairgrowsawfullyfast. Say‘MerryChristmas!’Jim,andlet’sbehappy. Youdon’tknowwhatanicewhatabeautiful,nicegiftI’vegotforyou." 

           "You’vecutoffyourhair?"askedJim,laboriously, asifhehadnotarrivedatthatpatentfactyetevenafterthehardestmentallabor. 

           "Cutitoffandsoldit,"saidDella. "Don’tyoulikemejustaswell,anyhow? I’mmewithoutmyhair,ain’tI?"
