           Fortunately,curiosityandaquickintellectmadeheranaptscholar:shelearnedrapidlyandeagerly,anddidhonourtohisteaching.

           "Andwhatarethosegoldenrockslikewhenyoustandunderthem?"sheonceasked.

           TheabruptdescentofPenistonCragsparticularlyattractedhernotice;especiallywhenthesettingsunshoneonitandthetopmostheights,andthewholeextentoflandscapebesideslayinshadow.Iexplainedthattheywerebaremassesofstone,withhardlyenoughearthintheircleftstonourishastuntedtree.
