           Sherubbedanotheragainstthewall:itburnedbrightly,andwherethelightfellonthewall,therethewallbecametransparentlikeaveil,sothatshecouldseeintotheroom.Onthetablewasspreadasnow-whitetablecloth;uponitwasasplendidporcelainservice,andtheroastgoosewassteamingfamouslywithitsstuffingofappleanddriedplums.
