“Fetchallthyothersonsbeforeme,”saidthekingtoAries.Butwhenhebroughtthem,noneofthemresembledTorinsizeorshapeorfeature.
ThenthekingknightedTor,saying,“Bethoutothylife’sendagoodknightandatrue,asIprayGodthoumayestbe;andifthouprovestworthy,andofprowess,onedaythoushallbecountedintheRoundTable.”ThenturningtoMerlin,Arthursaid,“Prophesynow,OMerlin,shallSirTorbecomeaworthyknight,ornot?”
“Yea,lord,”saidMerlin,“soheoughttobe,forheisthesonofthatKingPellinorewhomthouhastmet,andprovedtobeoneofthebestknightsliving.Heisnocowherd’sson.”
PresentlyaftercameinKingPellinore,andwhenhesawSirTorheknewhimforhisson,andwasmorepleasedthanwordscantelltofindhimknightedbytheking.AndPellinoredidhomagetoKingArthur,andwasgladlyandgraciouslyacceptedoftheking;andthenwasledbyMerlintoahighseatattheTableRound,neartothePerilousSeat.
ButSirGawainwasfullofangeratthehonourdoneKingPellinore,andsaidtohisbrotherGaheris,“Heslewourfather,KingLot,thereforewillIslayhim.”
“Doitnotyet,”saidhe;“waittillIalsobeaknight,thenwillIhelpyeinit:itisbestyesufferhimtogoatthistime,andnottroublethishighfeastwithbloodshed.”
