So,ontheTuesday,SirLancelotandthethreeknightslodgedthemselvesinasmallgrovehardbythelists.ThencameintothefieldtheKingofNorthgales,withonehundredandsixtyhelms,andthethreeknightsofKingArthur’scourt,whostoodapartbythemselves.AndwhenKingBagdemagushadarrived,witheightyhelms,bothcompaniessetalltheirspearsinrestandcametogetherwithamightyclash,whereinwereslaintwelveknightsofKingBagdemagus,andsixoftheKingofNorthgales;andthepartyofKingBagdemaguswasdrivenback.
Withthat,cameSirLancelot,andthrustintothethickestofthepress,andsmotedownwithonespearfiveknights,andbrakethebacksoffour,andcastdowntheKingofNorthgales,andbrakehisthighbythefall.WhenthethreeknightsofArthur’scourtsawthis,theyrodeatSirLancelot,andeachafterotherattackedhim;butheoverthrewthemall,andsmotethemnightodeath.Thentakinganewspear,heboredowntothegroundsixteenmoreknights,andhurtthemallsosorely,thattheycouldcarryarmsnomorethatday.
