Onefinemorning,justbeforethedepartureoftheCynosureonhersecondvoyagetoFayal,thecommanderofthatgallantvesselwasseentoissuefromhisresidenceinHanoverStreet.Hewasstylishlydressedinabluebroadclothcoat,withgoldlaceattheseamsandbutton-holes,anembroideredscarletwaistcoat,atriangularhat,withaloopandbroadbindingofgold,andworeasilver-hiltedhangerathisside.
