           Andahandgrabbedhishairanddraggedhimtothesurface,whichwassuddenlyfullofpain.Ghastlyblueandblackblotchesswaminfrontofhiseyes.Hislungswereonfire.Histhroatwasapipeofagony.

           Handscoldhands,freezinghands,handsthatfeltlikeaglovefullofdicetowedhimthroughthewaterandthrewhimdownontothebankwhere,aftersomegameattemptstogetonwithdrowning,hewaseventuallybulliedbackintowhatpassedforhislife.

           Terpsicdidn’toftengetangry,becauseGwladysdidn’tholdwithit.Buthefeltcheated.He’dbeenbornwithoutbeingconsulted,he’dbeenmarriedbecauseGwladysandherfatherhadseentoit,andtheonlymajorhumanachievementthatwasuniquelyhishadbeenrudelysnatchedawayfromhim.Afewsecondsagoithadallbeensosimple.
