           Butafterlunch,asIsatinthehotelporch,Iperkedup,forIsawthethingIhadhopedforandhaddreadedtomiss.AyachtcameupfromthesouthanddroppedanchorprettywelloppositetheRuff.Sheseemedaboutahundredandfiftytons,andIsawshebelongedtotheSquadronfromthewhiteensign.SoScaifeandIwentdowntotheharbourandhiredaboatmanforanafternoon’sfishing.

           Ispentawarmandpeacefulafternoon.Wecaughtbetweenusabouttwentypoundsofcodandlythe,andoutinthatdancingblueseaItookacheerierviewofthings.
