However,heknewthatthischroniclecouldnotbeastoryofdefinitivevictory.Itcouldonlybetherecordofwhathadtobedoneandwhat,nodoubt,wouldhavetobedoneagain,againstthisterroranditsindefatigableweapon,despitetheirownpersonalhardships,byallmenwho,whilenotbeingsaintsbutrefusingtogivewaytothepestilence,dotheirbesttobedoctors.
