           TheHorse,whohadputhisheadoutofthewindow,quietlydrewitinandsaid,‘It’sonlyabrookwehavetojumpover.Everybodyseemedsatisfiedwiththis,thoughAlicefeltalittlenervousattheideaoftrainsjumpingatall.‘However,it’lltakeusintotheFourthSquare,that’ssomecomfort!’shesaidtoherself.Inanothermomentshefeltthecarriagerisestraightupintotheair,andinherfrightshecaughtatthethingnearesttoherhand,whichhappenedtobetheGoat’sbeard.

           ItcertainlywasaverylargeGnat:‘aboutthesizeofachicken,’Alicethought.Still,shecouldn’tfeelnervouswithit,aftertheyhadbeentalkingtogethersolong.

           thenyoudon’tlikeallinsects?’theGnatwenton,asquietlyasifnothinghadhappened.
