Белоснежка

           Butnowthepoorchildwasallaloneinthegreatforest,andsoterrifiedthatshelookedateveryleafofeverytree,anddidnotknowwhattodo. Thenshebegantorun,andranoversharpstonesandthroughthorns,andthewildbeastsranpasther,butdidhernoharm. 

           Sheranaslongasherfeetwouldgountilitwasalmostevening; thenshesawalittlecottageandwentintoittorestherself. Everythinginthecottagewassmall,butneaterandcleanerthancanbetold. Therewasatableonwhichwasawhitecover,andsevenlittleplates,andoneachplatealittlespoon;moreover,thereweresevenlittleknivesandforks,andsevenlittlemugs. Againstthewallstoodsevenlittlebedssidebyside,andcoveredwithsnow-whitecounterpanes. 

           LittleSnow-whitewassohungryandthirstythatsheatesomevegetablesandbreadfromeachplateanddrankadropofwineoutofeachmug,forshedidnotwishtotakeallfromoneonly. Then,asshewassotired,shelaidherselfdownononeofthelittlebeds,butnoneofthemsuitedher; onewastoolong,anothertooshort,butatlastshefoundthattheseventhonewasright,andsosheremainedinit,saidaprayerandwenttosleep. 

           Whenitwasquitedarktheownersofthecottagecameback; theyweresevendwarfswhoduganddelvedinthemountainsforore. Theylittheirsevencandles,andasitwasnowlightwithinthecottagetheysawthatsomeonehadbeenthere,foreverythingwasnotinthesameorderinwhichtheyhadleftit.
