Andsohecametodwellinthegreenwoodthatwastobehishomeformanyayeartocome,neveragaintoseethehappydayswiththeladsandlassesofsweetLocksleyTown;forhewasoutlawed,notonlybecausehehadkilledaman,butalsobecausehehadpoachedupontheKing’sdeer,andtwohundredpoundsweresetuponhishead,asarewardforwhoeverwouldbringhimtothecourtoftheKing.
NowtheSheriffofNottinghamsworethathehimselfwouldbringthisknaveRobinHoodtojustice,andfortworeasons:first,becausehewantedthetwohundredpounds,andnext,becausetheforesterthatRobinHoodhadkilledwasofkintohim.
ButRobinHoodlayhiddeninSherwoodForestforoneyear,andinthattimetheregatheredaroundhimmanyotherslikehimself,castoutfromotherfolkforthiscauseandforthat.
