           HarryandRonstared:HermioneandGinny,whohadalwaysgotontogetherverywell,werenowsittingwiththeirarmsfolded,glaringinoppositedirections.RonlookednervouslyatHarry,thensnatchedupabookatrandomandhidbehindit.Harry,however,littlethoughheknewhedeservedit,feltunbelievablycheerfulallofasudden,eventhoughnoneofthemspokeagainfortherestoftheevening.

           Hislightheartednesswasshort-lived.TherewereSlytherintauntstobeendurednextday,nottomentionmuchangerfromfellowGryffindors,whoweremostunhappythattheirCaptainhadgothimselfbannedfromthefinalmatchoftheseason.BySaturdaymorning,whateverhemighthavetoldHermione,HarrywouldhavegladlyexchangedalltheFelixFelicisintheworldtobewalkingdowntotheQuidditchpitchwithRon,Ginny,andtheothers.Itwasalmostunbearabletoturnawayfromthemassofstudentsstreamingoutintothesunshine,allofthemwearingrosettesandhatsandbrandishingbannersandscarves,todescendthestonestepsintothedungeonsandwalkuntilthedistantsoundsofthecrowdwerequiteobliterated,knowingthathewouldnotbeabletohearawordofcommentaryoracheerorgroan.
