Slughorntookanotherdeepdraughtfromhismug,hiseyesmovingcarefullyaroundthecabinnow,looking,Harryknew,formoretreasuresthathemightbeabletoconvertintoaplentifulsupplyofoak-maturedmead,crystalizedpineapple,andvelvetsmokingjackets.HerefilledHagrid’smugandhisown,andquestionedhimaboutthecreaturesthatlivedintheforestthesedaysandhowHagridwasabletolookafterthemall.Hagrid,becomingexpansiveundertheinfluenceofthedrinkandSlughorn’sflatteringinterest,stoppedmoppinghiseyesandenteredhappilyintoalongexplanationofBowtrucklehusbandry.
TheFelixFelicisgaveHarryalittlenudgeatthispoint,andhenoticedthatthesupplyofdrinkthatSlughornhadbroughtwasrunningoutfast.HarryhadnotyetmanagedtobringofftheRefillingCharmwithoutsayingtheincantationaloud,buttheideathathemightnotbeabletodoittonightwaslaughable:indeed,Harrygrinnedtohimselfas,unnoticedbyeitherHagridorSlughorn(nowswappingtalesoftheillegaltradeindragoneggs)hepointedhiswandunderthetableattheemptyingbottlesandtheyimmediatelybegantorefill.
