HarrydidnotgetthechancetospeaktoMr.Weasley,whowasworkingverylonghoursattheMinistry,untilChristmasEvenight.TheWeasleysandtheirguestsweresittinginthelivingroom,whichGinnyhaddecoratedsolavishlythatitwasratherlikesittinginapaper-chainexplosion.Fred,George,Harry,andRonweretheonlyoneswhoknewthattheangelontopofthetreewasactuallyagardengnomethathadbittenFredontheankleashepulledupcarrotsforChristmasdinner.Stupefied,paintedgold,stuffedintoaminiaturetutuandwithsmallwingsgluedtohisback,itglowereddownatthemall,theugliestangelHarryhadeverseen,withalargebaldheadlikeapotatoandratherhairyfeet.
TheywereallsupposedtobelisteningtoaChristmasbroadcastbyMrs.Weasley’sfavoritesinger,CelestinaWarbeck,whosevoicewaswarblingoutofthelargewoodenwirelessset.Fleur,whoseemedtofindCelestinaverydull,wastalkingsoloudlyinthecornerthatascowlingMrs.
