           Harry,Ron,andHermioneleftthecastletogether,crossedthevegetablepatch,andmadeforthegreenhouses,wherethemagicalplantswerekept. AtleasttheHowlerhaddoneonegoodthing: Hermioneseemedtothinktheyhadnowbeenpunishedenoughandwasbeingperfectlyfriendlyagain. 

           Astheynearedthegreenhousestheysawtherestoftheclassstandingoutside,waitingforProfessorSprout. Harry,Ron,andHermionehadonlyjustjoinedthemwhenshecamestridingintoviewacrossthelawn,accompaniedbyGilderoyLockhart. ProfessorSprout’sarmswerefullofbandages,andwithanothertwingeofguilt,HarryspottedtheWhompingWillowinthedistance,severalofitsbranchesnowinslings. 

           ProfessorSproutwasasquatlittlewitchwhoworeapatchedhatoverherflyawayhair; therewasusuallyalargeamountofearthonherclothesandherfingernailswouldhavemadeAuntPetuniafaint. GilderoyLockhart,however,wasimmaculateinsweepingrobesofturquoise,hisgoldenhairshiningunderaperfectlypositionedturquoisehatwithgoldtrimming.
