           AslowcruelsmilecameovertheWitch’sface.

           "Isthisallyournews?"sheasked.

           "No,yourMajesty,"saidEdmund,andproceededtotellherallhehadheardbeforeleavingtheBeavers’house.

           "What!Aslan?"criedtheQueen,"Aslan!Isthistrue?IfIfindyouhaveliedtome-"

           "Please,I’monlyrepeatingwhattheysaid,"stammeredEdmund.

           ButtheQueen,whowasnolongerattendingtohim,clappedherhands.InstantlythesamedwarfwhomEdmundhadseenwithherbeforeappeared.

           "Makereadyoursledge,"orderedtheWitch,"andusetheharnesswithoutbells."
