           Amomentlaterthestrangercameoutfrombehindthetree,glancedallroundasifitwereafraidsomeonewaswatching,said"Hush",madesignstothemtojoinitinthethickerbitofwoodwhereitwasstanding,andthenoncemoredisappeared.

           "Iknowwhatitis,"saidPeter;"it’sabeaver.Isawthetail."

           "Itwantsustogotoit,"saidSusan,"anditiswarningusnottomakeanoise."

           "Iknow,"saidPeter."Thequestionis,arewetogotoitornot?Whatdoyouthink,Lu?"

           "Ithinkit’sanicebeaver,"saidLucy.

           "Yes,buthowdoweknow?"saidEdmund.

           "Shan’twehavetoriskit?"saidSusan."Imean,it’snogoodjuststandinghereandIfeelIwantsomedinner."

           AtthismomenttheBeaveragainpoppeditsheadoutfrombehindthetreeandbeckonedearnestlytothem.
