Thenewarrangementwasquitetomyliking.Thewholeschoonerhadbeenoverhauled;sixberthshadbeenmadeasternoutofwhathadbeentheafter-partofthemainhold;andthissetofcabinswasonlyjoinedtothegalleyandforecastlebyasparredpassageontheportside.Ithadbeenoriginallymeantthatthecaptain,Mr.Arrow,Hunter,Joyce,thedoctor,andthesquireweretooccupythesesixberths.NowRedruthandIweretogettwoofthemandMr.Arrowandthecaptainweretosleepondeckinthecompanion,whichhadbeenenlargedoneachsidetillyoumightalmosthavecalleditaround-house.Verylowitwasstill,ofcourse;buttherewasroomtoswingtwohammocks,andeventhemateseemedpleasedwiththearrangement.Evenhe,perhaps,hadbeendoubtfulastothecrew,butthatisonlyguess,forasyoushallhear,wehadnotlongthebenefitofhisopinion.
