           "Thatcanperhapsbemended,"saidtheLordoftheEagles.Lateronyoumighthaveseenabrightfireontheshelfofrockandthefiguresofthedwarvesrounditcookingandmakingafineroastingsmell.Theeagleshadbroughtupdryboughsforfuel,andtheyhadbroughtrabbits,hares,andasmallsheep.Thedwarvesmanagedallthepreparations.Bilbowastooweaktohelp,andanywayhewasnotmuchgoodatskinningrabbitsorcuttingupmeat,beingusedtohavingitdeliveredbythebutcherallreadytocook.Gandalf,too,waslyingdownafterdoinghispartinsettingthefiregoing,sinceOinandGloinhadlosttheirtinder-boxes.(Dwarveshavenevertakentomatchesevenyet.)

           SoendedtheadventuresoftheMistyMountains.SoonBilbo’sstomachwasfeelingfullandcomfortableagain,andhefelthecouldsleepcontentedly,thoughreallyhewouldhavelikedaloafandbutterbetterthanbitsofmeattoastedonsticks.
