           AtfirstIprotestagainstbeingsowidelymistakenastohavetakenanislandforamarinemonster.Buttheevidenceisagainstme,andIhavetoconfessmyerror.Itisnothingworsethananaturalphenomenon.

           Asweapproachnearerthedimensionsoftheliquidcolumnbecomemagnificent.Theisletresembles,withamostdeceivinglikeness,anenormouscetacean,whoseheaddominatesthewavesataheightoftwentyyards.Thegeyser,awordmeaning‘fury,’risesmajesticallyfromitsextremity.Deepandheavyexplosionsareheardfromtimetotime,whentheenormousjet,possessedwithmorefuriousviolence,shakesitsplumycrest,andspringswithaboundtillitreachestheloweststratumoftheclouds.Itstandsalone.Nosteamvents,nohotspringssurroundit,andallthevolcanicpoweroftheregionisconcentratedhere.Sparksofelectricfireminglewiththedazzlingsheafoflightedfluid,everydropofwhichrefractstheprismaticcolours.
