           Hewent:Iwatchedthelightwithdraw. Hepassedupthegalleryverysoftly,unclosedthestaircasedoorwithaslittlenoiseaspossible,shutitafterhim,andthelastrayvanished. Iwasleftintotaldarkness.Ilistenedforsomenoise,butheardnothing.
