TheschoolowlsswoopedintotheGreatHallcarryingthemailasusual,andNevillechokedasahugebarnowllandedinfrontofhim,ascarletenvelopeclutchedinitsbeak.HarryandRon,whoweresittingoppositehim,recognizedtheletterasaHowleratonce—Ronhadgotonefromhismothertheyearbefore.
"Runforit,Neville,"Ronadvised.
Nevilledidn’tneedtellingtwice.Heseizedtheenvelope,andholdingitbeforehimlikeabomb,sprintedoutofthehall,whiletheSlytherintableexplodedwithlaughteratthesightofhim.TheyheardtheHowlergooffintheentrancehall—Neville’sgrandmother’svoice,magicallymagnifiedtoahundredtimesitsusualvolume,shriekingabouthowhehadbroughtshameonthewholefamily.
HarrywastoobusyfeelingsorryforNevilletonoticeimmediatelythathehadalettertoo.Hedwiggothisattentionbynippinghimsharplyonthewrist.
