           ThedesiretowritewasstirringinMartinoncemore. Storiesandpoemswerespringingintospontaneouscreationinhisbrain,andhemadenotesofthemagainstthefuturetimewhenhewouldgivethemexpression. Buthedidnotwrite. Thiswashislittlevacation; hehadresolvedtodevoteittorestandlove,andinbothmattersheprospered. Hewassoonspillingoverwithvitality,andeachdayhesawRuth,atthemomentofmeeting,sheexperiencedtheoldshockofhisstrengthandhealth.
